ROOTED REPS
In response to the deep need that many of us feel for relaxation, stress relief, and/or healing from trauma or addiction, Rooted REPS will begin hosting acupuncture sessions that will be free of charge and open to the community.
The first session will be held on Sunday, November 14th from 12:00-1:00pm in the sanctuary. Acupuncture will be provided by Sabina Wong, a member of the Rooted REPS Leadership Team and a certified AcuDetox Specialist, utilizing the NADA protocol.
The NADA protocol is a non-verbal approach to healing that involves the gentle placement of up to 5 small sterile disposable needles into specific sites on each ear. Recipients sit quietly in a group setting for 30 minutes allowing the treatment to take effect. This method of acupuncture was initially developed by physicians in the 1970's to support recovery from heroin addiction, and has been shown to produce multiple benefits including:
Reduced craving for substances including opiates, alcohol, and nicotine
Reducing withdrawal symptoms
Increased calmness, better sleep, and less agitation
Relief from stress and emotional trauma
Easier connection with counselling
A discovery of inner quiet and strength
NADA is an adjunct therapy and is not intended to take the place of other prescribed medical or behavioral therapy. For those with contraindications to receiving therapy with needles (pregnancy or currently taking a blood-thinner), there is an option to receive acupressure treatment, which produces a similar effect.
If you are interested in receiving acupuncture or know someone who might benefit, please meet us in the sanctuary after service.
We also welcome prayers for the session and all who participate, that the Lord may truly relieve burdens and bring healing through multiple modalities, including the quiet re-centering that comes with acupuncture.
